Art Workshop at the Hive: workshop details

Art Workshop with Helen Forte

Sunday 19th September, 2-4 at the Hive

Sketching Nature

We’ll be looking at the plants and animals that live around the Hive site, using pencils, pastels and watercolour. If we’re fortunate with the weather, we will draw in the meadow and the edge of the wood; if not, we’ll be in the log cabin! Art materials provided, as well as tea, coffee and biscuits. £25 (£20 for Hive members)

Helen is an experienced artist and illustrator and has been teaching art for nearly 30 years.

Please wear appropriate clothing to be outside. There are toilets available at the site.

Printmaking at the Hive: workshop details

Family workshop 10am - 12pm

In this session, you will be printing with natural materials, such as leaves, flowers and feathers, gathered from the Hive site. You will also learn to make transfer monoprints, laying paper directly on the inked block and drawing freehand to produce the printed image.

£25 for one adult and one child (£30 for non-members, £5 for any additional children)

Adult workshop 1pm-4pm

In the first part of this session you will design and construct a collagraph block based on an insect form. You’ll then prepare different surfaces for your print, using watercolour and tissue paper. Finally, you will learn to ink up and print your insect block.

£35 per person (£40 for non-members)

Printmaking is a messy business, so please dress appropriately and wear an apron. The inks we’ll be using are safe and can be washed off with soap and water, but they may stain clothes.

Refreshments are available but feel free to bring your own too! Please let us know if you have any relevant allergies or mobility issues you feel we should know about: westsuffolkhive@gmail.com

Please adhere to current COVID guidelines and the Hive policy and help us keep all our visitors safe. There are hand washing and hand sanitising facilities available and the course will be held outdoors to enable social distancing. Please do not attend if you or anyone in your household is displaying any symptoms. In the event of tighter restrictions returning, the event will be postponed and you will be able to defer your booking or receive a refund. The number of tickets you can book will be limited to adhere to current guidelines.

Please remember to wear suitable clothing for being outdoors and let us know if you have any accessibility issues. We look forward to welcoming you to The Hive.
